NOAH Legacy Rise 2026: New Champion, New Hairstyles
Pro Wrestling NOAH has once again proven why Golden Week remains the most vital period on the Japanese wrestling calendar. Following a massive show at Ryogoku Kokugikan over the weekend, the promotion returned to its spiritual home of Korakuen Hall on 5 May 2026 for Legacy Rise. The event was headlined by a historic title change and a high-stakes grudge match that has permanently altered the landscape of the company’s faction warfare.
The main event saw the legendary Naomichi Marufuji capture the GHC National Championship for the first time in his storied career. Marufuji defeated Alpha Wolf in a grueling 24-minute encounter that served as a masterclass in psychological storytelling. Alpha Wolf, who has enjoyed a dominant run since winning the title on New Year's Day, pushed the veteran to his absolute limits, but Marufuji’s experience ultimately proved the deciding factor. This victory adds one of the few remaining accolades to Marufuji's resume, solidifying his status as the definitive pillar of the promotion as it heads into the summer.
While the title change made the headlines, the emotional core of the evening was the Dissolution versus Hair match between Kaito Kiyomiya and Masa Kitamiya. The stakes were incredibly high, with Kiyomiya’s All Rebellion faction on the line against Kitamiya’s hair. After 17 minutes of hard-hitting action, Kiyomiya emerged victorious, forcing Kitamiya to undergo a public head-shaving. The loss is a massive blow to the Team 2000X stable, as Kitamiya has been their primary enforcer throughout the spring. For Kiyomiya, the win secures the future of his group and re-establishes him as a primary threat to the top of the card.
The show also provided a clear look at the immediate future of the GHC Heavyweight Championship. New champion Shane Haste, fresh off his title win on 2 May, teamed with Tetsuya Endo to defeat the formidable duo of KENTA and Katsumi Inahata. Following the match, it was confirmed that Haste will make his first official title defence against KENTA on 13 May, returning once more to Korakuen Hall. The interaction between the two suggested a volatile rivalry, with KENTA clearly incensed by Haste’s recent ascent to the top of the mountain.
Elsewhere on the card, the Los Tranquilos de Japon unit continued their dominant run. The trio of Tetsuya Naito, BUSHI, and RYUSEI picked up a convincing victory over the younger contingent of Yuto Koyanagi, Hiroto Tsuruya, and Midori Takahashi. The chemistry between the NJPW imports and their NOAH associates has become one of the most compelling aspects of current programming, drawing a vocal crowd of over 1,300 fans to the sold-out hall. As the Legacy Rise tour concludes, NOAH appears to have successfully transitioned its momentum from the stadium setting back to the intimate atmosphere of the studio, setting the stage for a blockbuster month of May.
