The acclaimed docuseries Dark Side of the Ring has officially set a course for its seventh season, with Vice TV confirming a premiere date of 7 July 2026. This upcoming installment is being described by creators Evan Husney and Jason Eisener as their most ambitious effort to date, featuring a mixture of long-form deep dives and profiles on some of the most complex figures in the history of the sport.

The season will launch with a massive three-part premiere dedicated to the foundational years of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. This trilogy will focus heavily on the journey of Jeff Jarrett, exploring the resilience and redemption required to build a national promotion from the ground up while navigating the internal struggles that nearly derailed the company. By dedicating three full episodes to TNA, the series aims to provide a definitive account of the promotion’s impact on the modern wrestling landscape.

Beyond the TNA retrospective, season seven will feature several standalone episodes focusing on iconic and controversial performers. One of the primary subjects confirmed is the late Ray "The Big Boss Man" Traylor, whose story was teased earlier this year via production footage from Vice Studios. Other legends set to receive the documentary treatment include "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff and the "First Lady of Wrestling," Missy Hyatt.

The series will also venture into the realm of modern underground classics and unique personal stories. Fans can expect an episode dedicated to the infamous, bloody encounter between Necro Butcher and Samoa Joe, a match that remains a touchstone of the independent wrestling boom. Additionally, the season will explore the life of Zach Gowen, the one-legged wrestler whose brief but memorable WWE run captivated audiences, and Rick Wilson, the man who portrayed The Renegade in WCW as an ill-fated knockoff of the Ultimate Warrior.

With production having taken place in wrestling hubs like Louisville, Kentucky, the new season promises the same level of unflinching detail and personal interviews that have defined the series since 2019. As the premiere date approaches, the wrestling world is bracing for a season that looks to bridge the gap between the legends of the 1980s and the chaotic, formative years of the early 2000s.
