Carlos Silva "Compensated" TNA Talent Pulled from Matches

Carlos Silva

TNA Wrestling President Carlos Silva
is taking full responsibility for the controversial decision to pull his talent from high-profile independent matches against AEW stars, but new reports suggest he is working to minimize the financial fallout for those involved. During an appearance on Busted Open Radio on April 29, 2026, Silva addressed the backlash surrounding the cancellation of marquee bouts such as Nic Nemeth vs. MJF and Leon Slater vs. Ricochet, framing the move as a necessary step to "protect" the TNA brand.

While the decision initially sparked outrage among fans and talent—most notably from Will Ospreay and MJF—details have emerged regarding Silva’s efforts to make the affected parties whole. According to veteran wrestler Matt Hardy, Silva has gone above and beyond to ensure that the wrestlers pulled from these events did not suffer a financial loss. Hardy noted that Silva personally compensated the talent by paying their full appearance fees out of pocket, a move rarely seen in the industry when third-party bookings are scrapped.

The compensation efforts have extended to the independent promoters who were left with holes in their advertised cards. WrestleCon promoter Michael Bochicchio confirmed that Silva reached out to reimburse the organization for the travel and lodging costs associated with Leon Slater’s scheduled match against Ricochet. By covering these overhead expenses, Silva has attempted to soften the blow for the smaller promotions that often operate on thin margins during the busy WrestleMania weekend.

The root of the conflict appears to be a mix of "partner conflicts" and recent scheduling friction between TNA and AEW. Silva hinted that AEW’s recent decision to move an episode of Collision head-to-head with TNA Impact played a role in his defensive stance. Additionally, TNA's growing partnership with WWE has reportedly created a new set of boundaries regarding where and how TNA talent can be utilized alongside AEW stars on the independent circuit.

Despite these business-driven maneuvers, the tension between the two promotions remains high. Just hours before the April 29 episode of Dynamite, MJF publicly called out Silva on social media, accusing the TNA President of being dishonest about the situation. While Silva maintains that his primary job is to "protect this house," his decision to pay talent their full fees and reimburse promoters suggests a desire to maintain professional relationships in the locker room, even as the corporate war between the two companies escalates.
