Vince McMahon Attempts to Acquire Controlling Share of BKFC

In a move that has sent ripples through both the professional wrestling and combat sports worlds, reports have emerged that former WWE supremo Vince McMahon recently attempted to acquire a controlling interest in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). While the deal ultimately did not materialize, the revelation underscores McMahon's continued ambition and desire to be involved in the high-octane world of combat entertainment.

According to Justin Barrasso of The Undisputed, McMahon, at 79 years old, engaged in discussions with BKFC founder and president, David Feldman. Feldman himself confirmed that a meeting took place, describing McMahon and his team as "great" and "very complimentary," and acknowledging McMahon's serious intent to do business. However, the sticking point appears to have been creative control, with Feldman stating he was unwilling to relinquish full command of the burgeoning promotion. "He's Vince McMahon—if I were him, I'd want creative control, too," Feldman was quoted saying, suggesting a mutual understanding of each other's strong business acumen.

This reported pursuit of BKFC signifies McMahon's exploration of opportunities outside of his long-standing association with professional wrestling, particularly following his resignation from TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE and UFC, earlier this year. While McMahon still holds a stake in TKO, this potential acquisition signals a desire for a more direct, hands-on role in a combat sports venture.

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, founded in 2018, has rapidly gained traction and a dedicated following, holding over 125 bare-knuckle boxing events since its inception. The promotion's profile was significantly boosted in April 2024 when combat sports superstar Conor McGregor became a part-owner, frequently appearing at events and adding significant star power. BKFC also recently secured a three-year broadcast deal with DAZN, further expanding its reach.

The news of McMahon's interest isn't entirely surprising to industry observers. Eric Bischoff, a long-time associate and rival of McMahon in professional wrestling, had previously indicated that McMahon was exploring various combat sports ventures. Bischoff, who himself had discussions with BKFC, confirmed McMahon's involvement in talks, suggesting McMahon's enduring passion for the combat sports/entertainment hybrid.

While the BKFC deal may not have come to fruition, it firmly establishes that Vince McMahon, despite his age and recent corporate departures, remains a formidable and active presence in the entertainment landscape. His reported readiness to invest and seek control in a company like BKFC speaks volumes about his unyielding drive and suggests that his next big move in combat sports may be just around the corner. The industry will undoubtedly be watching closely to see where the legendary promoter sets his sights next.
